La
Jolla Sea Cave Kayaks, LLC has over 10
years of experience guiding kayaking tours
of the world famous La Jolla sea caves.
Providing you with an exceptional experience
is what we do best! Quality and personalized
service separate us from the pack. Our
groups are small and our guide-to-guest
ratio never exceeds 1:6. Our guides are
chosen and trained by Jen Kleck, the most
highly certified kayaking instructor in
California. Our equipment is specially
chosen to enhance your experience because
one size does NOT fit all and light-weight
paddles really DO make a difference!

Frequently
asked questions:
Where
can I store personal belongings during
my tour? We provide complimentary
storage for your valuables and clothing
while you're enjoying our beautiful marine
reserve!
Do
I need to make a reservation?
No, but because we keep our group sizes
small and our guide to guest ratio very
low, many tours sell out in advance, especially
on summer weekends. We strongly encourage
reservations so you won't be disappointed!
Your tour can be reserved with your credit
card over the phone.
What
is your cancellation policy?
We limit all of our guided tours to just
10 kayaks. We do not overbook tours. So
when you make a reservation with us, we
hold a spot just for you. In order to
maintain our high standards of personal
service, quality, and affordable prices,
we need to adhere to the following cancellation
policies: If you cancel 24 hours or more
before a tour, we can provide you with
a full refund. If you cancel less than
24 hours before a tour for any reason,
we regret that we will not be able to
refund your money. If we cancel a tour
for any reason, we will, of course, provide
a full refund.
Will
the tour be canceled if it's raining?
It never rains in San Diego....except
sometimes when it does! But because kayaking
is a wet sport, a little rain certainly
won't stop us! Of course, we will cancel
a tour when we determine that conditions
are unsafe to continue, at which point
we will provide refunds. Please note
that weather conditions in San Diego are
very localized and vary over a short period
of time, so expect a tour to run until
a staff member informs you otherwise.
Can
my children participate?
Children over 6 years of age are welcome
to join us! Children between 6 and 14
years must be accompanied by an adult
on a tandem kayak. Children under 18 years
must have a parent or guardian sign a
liability release form on their behalf.
We understand that every child is different
and what is fun and exciting to one, is
terrifying to another. Kayaks do capsize
in the surf, especially when landing.
While this is great fun for older kids
and adults, it can be frightening for
little ones. If your child (of any age)
is a bit timid about the water or the
ocean, please let your guide know so we
can take extra precautions to ensure that
their experience is a positive one that
will foster a life-long love of water
sports! Don't hesitate to call us if you
have special concerns or questions.
I've
never kayaked before. Can I rent a kayak?
Yes. If you're a bit athletic and a bit
adventurous, you may enjoy exploring without
a guide. We will provide some basic kayaking
instruction and safety advise. We do not permit renters to enter the caves without a guide. Even people who've kayaked before will benefit from the
confidence our experienced and encouraging
guides will instill!
Why
are the kayakers in your web site photos
wearing helmets? For the
same reason you wouldn't let your child
or friend ride their bike without a helmet:
because there's a chance they could fall
off and hit their head on something hard.
Well, if you're kayaking close to rocks
and into sea caves (which are just holes
in rock), then there's a chance...a small
chance....that you could fall off and
hit your head on something hard. We simply
can't take the risk, no matter how small,
that your wife, or your brother, or your
child, or YOU, could injure something
as valuable as a head when all it takes
to prevent is wearing a helmet! The ocean is an unforgiving and often unpredictable place and (as with every outdoor sport) there are risks associated with kayaking. We do our best to minimize those risks.
